New spiraling tool
Author Last Post

I have the same tool and like it – works very well on embellishing end grain (tops, refrigerator magnets, etc.)

I think you should get one, Cagney.

I bought the set - handle plus two spiraling wheels. The handle is beefy, with a rig on it that helps keep it square to the tool rest. Nicely made.

Have a great day!

Did you buy the handle too or make your own?

I have one too, and I like it.  Because tops have so much visible end grain – it creates a great canvass to texture on.

I was not real happy with my current texturing tool, it was large and simply not doing the job as I wanted, so time for a new tool! The Robert Sorby Micro-Spiraling tool was my choice - since my typical pieces are smaller in size and would benefit from some interesting highlights. You can get this at various woodworking stores - like here - Robert Sorby Micro Spiraling/Texturing Tool 4 Piece Set | Finishing | Craft Supplies USA (woodturnerscatalog.com)

Mike Peace did a few demo's on using texturing tools to add accents to his work, some home made and some store bought. So, since time was short between now and the next need for tops, I decided to buy the Sorby! Nice tool, I am happy with the purchase. It did a couple nice textures including a cool spiral on my tops - take a look
