The slimlines are thought to be the easiest pens to turn, but I don't agree - especially by what you are seeing. The tranmissions are difficult to install and fail frequently, especially on installation. You can remove the transmission by using a pen disassembly tool - in essence a steel pin - and reset or replace it. Harbor Freight sells a set of pins that work perfectly -

Disassemble the pen and drive the transmission out if it's broken, or simply reset the depth if it's not in correctly. If you need a new transmission, let me know, I have a bunch of extras I can bring to the November meeting.
I think your pens look great! You are keeping the diameters very good for the mating parts, your finishes look good, and I like the shaping! NICE WORK!!
I might suggest trying a single body pen, like a Vertex or Sierra. They are a little easier and more durable.
