Our group meets ten times a year, on the second Tuesday of
each month (excluding July and August), at the Holy Family Parish Center, in
Lakewood, NJ, (the white building at the
corner of East County Line Road (Rt. 526) and Ridge Ave.), in Lakewood, NJ.

Visitors and perspective members are always welcome at our
meetings. Whether you're an experienced woodturner, or just someone who is
interested in turning, you'll be sure to find something of value at our
meetings.
Feel free to browse our website. However, the Members area
is restricted to club members only. That's where all the good stuff is
hidden. So you'll have to join the club to find out
what's there!
Next Meeting:
The Summer break is here. No more meetings until
September 9, 2008. We got a lot of great feedback from members, about
how much they enjoyed the turning session at the last meeting. So, we're
doing it again! Our September meeting will be devoted to show & tell,
followed by an open turning session. This time, we'll set up the lathes,
and have each one devoted to a particular tool; ie, one will me the
"skew station", another will be spindle & detail gouges, another will be
bowl gouges, and the last will be scrapers. We'll also have the
sharpening system set up, so people can bring their dull tools, and
learn how to sharpen them themselves! Enjoy the summer. See you in
September!

You Just Missed:
The 2007 - 2008 season is over! At our June 10,2008
meeting, we collected the pens made for the
Freedom Pens Project - and we
were successful! We have a total of 100 pens, made by our club members!
It was such a great sight seeing all the pens, laid out on a table, side
by side. I'm very proud, as were many of the other members. Members also
turned in their turned toys that are being donated to the AAW symposium,
being held in Richmond, Va., Friday June 20 - Sunday June 22, 2008.
There were lots of tops, a ring toss game, a cup and ball toy, and even
flying saucers. Pictures of these items will be posted in the events
area soon. Thanks everyone, it's been a GREAT season. See you all in
September!
