Member Of The Month

Month after month, we sit in our meetings next to one another. But how much do we really know about each other?

To fix that problem, each month, a different member will be highlighted. You'll get to know a little bit about each of these members; how long they've been turning, what they do (or did) for a living, what they like, what they dislike, and what other special skills and hobbies they have.

Our first member profile features one of our club's founding members, Walt Rissmeyer!

Walt is a true veteran woodturner - in fact, he's been turning wood for 68 years! In 1938, when Walt was only 8 years old, he watched a woodturning demo at a county fair, in Orange Country, NY. He watched in fascination as the demonstrator turned square blocks of wood into spindles. When he got home, Walt set out to build his first lathe - out of a Singer sewing machine! (continued ...)

The Atlantic Shore Woodturners club is a non-profit organization, serving east-central New Jersey. For problems or questions regarding this web, please contact our webmaster.
